We just got back from Santa Catalina. It was so beautiful. It's hard to believe that it's part of California, it felt like traveling abroad with the boat ride and the small community. We took Devi with us and she loved feeding the birds (oops! Didn't see the sign until after!), looking at the fish and the boats. The busy season is after spring break so we felt like we had the whole island to ourselves. The colors are amazing-the trees, water, sky, boats...everything! We only stayed one night but we were ok with that since Devi only slept for a few hours, so then we had a crabby baby!
We took a tour of the city on an old bus (it seriously reminded me of the buses in India) and learned the history of Santa Catalina. I had no idea that the Wrigley's (yes the chewing gum) owned and had such influence on the island. Our other tour was the glass bottom boat, but their weren't any available so we were upgraded to the submersible boat tour. We sat under the boat and were able to see all the fish swimming next to the boat. Chris took some beautiful pictures and Devi loved seeing all the fish, especially when she saw their eyes!
To finish off our short vacation we took some walks, made friends with a somewhat local couple (Chris makes friends where ever he goes!), took some pictures, went to two parks, ate ice cream and then on the way home stopped by a friends house, visited and ate pizza!
We had an awesome, fast, yet enjoyable vacation!
I'm glad you guys had a great trip to Catalina. I actually need tips because Sam and I just booked a cruise at the end of this month to Catalina and Ensenada. What's like a definite MUST to do in Catalina (we'll be there for a day)?
